1993: Trollheimen for four days with tent and large back-pack with a whole gang from Karlskoga.
1995: Rondane for three days with tent at a base camp including a climb to the top of Storronden.
1996: Sikkilsdalsfjellene for three days walking between cottages with a light back-pack starting at Liomseter. From there we went to Haldorbu and then to Storkvelvbu and finally back to Liomseter where we had the car parked.
1997: Jotunheimen for three days crossing Besseggen for the second time and walking between cottages: Gjendebu -Torfinnsbu - Valdresflya.
1998: Hardangervidda for two days (bad weather) walking between cottages: Halne - Rauhellern - Trondsbu - Tåastølen. Even my old friend Kari Ritvos participated in this trip.
1999: Skarvheimen for four days and by car down Aurlandsdalen valley, a trip with the Flåm railroad, by car on the Snow Road over the mountains to Lærdal and via Lake Mjösa back home. This was the last hike with Bengt.
2007: Jotunheimen with my son Mattias. We went by foot from Fondsbu to Gjendebu. When we were halfway we discovered that the sole was about to come off on my left shoe. That, together with general exhaution stopped further hiking for this time. However, we made it to Gjendebu. Mattias and I are planing to do something next year or the year after.
The time span indicated was the time actually spent walking. On top of that comes the transport to and from the area.
I am a member of the Norwegian Tourist Federation (DNT) which is operating some 360 cottages of various standards in the Norwegian Mountains. On top of that there are a large number of private cottages where you may stay over night and get a meal etc. Norway is fantastic in this way!
Photography
I have a nice little digital camera which I use all the time. The film camera is never used any more. I am planning to scan the best pictures I have on Dia and on paper/negative film and make them digital. That is a project I am working on when I have time and feel for it.
Genealogy
This is something I started with in november 2007. I found out that it was rather easy to research the ancestors of my Norwegian parents. It is free and it is easy to use through Internet. The documents presented there will be continuously updated. It is fascinating what you can find out in what is freely made accessible over Internet (in Norway). I had quite a lot on my mother's father's side and did some on my mother's mother's side. Then I started with my fathers ancestors at the small island Loppa 70 defrees north. That was a thrilling experience. The result you may read under "About me". I have not given up findig out more about my ancestors.
Music
We have quite a collection of LPs with very good music, classical as well as jazz and pop. I want to move some of that to a more modern medium and I have ackquired what equipment and softwrae that is necessary. But I hanen't quite come around to it yet. - - in due time, though!
The roads and life in Ärla
We have recently (2005) revived the old Road Association and we have taken over the responsibility (2007) for the roads and streets in Ärla. I'm secretary on the board of Ärla Samfällighetsförening . As such it takes quite a lot of my time. There are lots of new things to learn bu it is very interesting. I also learn a lot about life in Ärla that I did not have a clue about while I was employed.
You cannot help getting involved. This article was about helping elderly people who have not got any PC with internet and no Credit or Bank Card and who relied on a local service at the grocery shop. This service was going to be shut down in november 2008 with no replacement and with no practical assistance to the people hit. Alas, you write to the authorities and the newspapers pickup the story. Hopefully, something good will come out of it!
Being a naturist.
In 1984 I became a naturist by chance. I found the idea of taking a bath and being out in the sun without clothes very nice. I discovered a Naturist camp, Gustavsberg, just outside Nora. The kids found it very nice and we made lots of friends there.
I soon became involved in running the place and I have been the secretary of the club for many years, Naturistföreningen Bergslagens Solsport. I have been engaged in operating the naturist camp, Gustavsberg, for about 10 years or so. I withdrew from the club committee spring 2000. I have also been part of the Board of the national federation, Sveriges Naturistförbund (SNF) since 1993. I am responsible for International Liaison and I am also the Web Master of the Scandinavian Naturist Portal and The Scandinavian Naturist Guide. I am also the Vice Chairman of the Board.
Since 1986, my family and I have had a caravan and a seasonal lot for this caravan at the Gustavsberg Naturist Camp. I enjoyed carrying out various works at the camp without a single piece of clothing. I do not very much like to lie flat on my back in the sun for long. I get bored very quickly. At a camp like Gustavsberg, there are always things, which need to be done. It never gets boring. However, since 2000 we have ceased having a seasonal lot at Gustavsberg. After 15 years, I need a rest from the club life for a while.
However, I have been on the board of the Swedish Naturist Federation, SNF, since 1993. I'm the vice chairman of the board since several years and I'm responsible for foreign liaison. As such I have been representing SNF since 2004 at the INF Congresses at Croatia, Spain, Brasil and Italy. INF is the International Naturist Federation with about 30 national naturist federations where SNF is one.
Since the INF Congress in Brasil in 2008, the European naturist federation will be responsible for their own European Events (Sports, Youth, Family etc) and a European organization has been created for this: EuNat. EuNat meets every year to decide about which events that will be supported and get how much money etc. The Swedish Naturist Federation will be responsible for arranging this meeting in 2011. 22 federations will send their delegates to Sweden for this meeting at the last wekend of May. The meeting is conducted in French, English and German with simultaneous translation. I will be responsible for this arrangement. That's a great challenge! Fortunately, I have a great Project Group to help me!
If you should find this interesting, here are a few links where you can find more information about naturism in Sweden, at Gustavsberg and elsewhere: The Swedish Naturist Federation where I'm the web-master. This site is mostly in Swedish. The Scandinavian Naturist Guide/Skandinavisk Naturistguide where I have been the head editor will give you all Naturist Camps and Nude Beaches in Scandinavia. The Scandinavian Naturist Guide is in English and German and in the Scandinavian languages.
Other hobbies.
I tried to take up Folks Dance in order to stay in shape and to learn the Swedish "Gammaldans". That was great fun but lately I just haven't had the time and I also have had a bad foot (I fell off the roof of our house) to put the blame on. Also my hip joints are giving some pain and will not let me move as freely as before.

When I was young (1946 - 1953) I was a member of KFUM Sjøkorps in Oslo . We did a lot of sailing with small boats (Grimstadjolle) and made a few long journeys from Oslo to Marstrand and to Copenhagen with a 13 meter Colin Archer named Vici with bermuda rig and a jib boom . This took place in 1946 - 1951. Since then I have always been intrerested in boats and sailing but have not have very much opportunity to practise. However, I have ackquired a licence to sail ( Förarbevis) some years ago. The pictures shows the S/S Mohawk that was sunk at the Dutch coast summer 2004 and some "Grimstadjoller". I would have liked to do more sailing but I haven't got a boat, I do not know anyone that would let me borrow one and I have not the money to buy one. But there are lots of other things that I also enjoy!
Family and food
Then, of course, finally, my family, the house, the dogs, a Yorkshire Terrier and an Alsacian, and the garden take up of my time. Mostly, I enjoy working on various things on the house and in the garden as long as the various projects aren't too big. We also go for walks with the dog in the near by forests where we pick mushrooms and berries when these are in season.
I enjoy cooking very much. I always take care of the traditional (Norwegian) meals for Christmas and I have a range of dishes that I enjoy doing. During our time in France we picked up a lot of the French cooking. My wife has also a set of dishes that she enjoys doing. Since I was retired, I have taken over most of the cooking. I have also joined a group of old gourmets who meet on Tuesday nights, every third week, to cook and to eat. Bar-B-Que is of course popular during summer at the back of the house. I have also collected the family recipes in a cook book for our sons.
We have several hundred vinyl LP records which we play occasionally. I'm planning to tranform the best of them to wma and MP3 in order to get to a more handy format. Lots of the music we have on LPs we also have on CD. There is no point in wasting work on these. But we have some records that are unique and these I want to transform.
I also like to take pictures of places I have been to and people I know and like. I also very much like to travel and meet people of all kinds, as I have mentioned already.
I also have a whim that is riding me! I do not believe in large scale wind power but I do believe in Deep Geothermal Energy. We are all living on a planet with a very high internal temperature. There is a vast amount of energy available there, if we can only get to it. With the new drillilling technique now available I believe it will be doable within short almost anywhere on this planet. The Geothermal Energy is there 24 hours per day, every day of the year, for as many years as humans still will inhabit this earth - regardless of when the sun is up or whether the wind blows - -
I maintain that
Deep Geothermal Energy will be feasable even if we have to invest 1½ - 2 times
the costs of a nuclear power station for the equal amount of energy (GWh per year).
This is due to no need to acquire and handle the Uranium and you do not need to worry about how to dispose of the radioactive waste - and there is no emission of any harmful gases.
Hence, I have started a Swedish Facebook Group: Djup Geotermisk Energi kan ersätta kärnkraft och Vindkraft mm. (Deep Geothermal Energi (EGS) can replace nuclear and he wind energy). Wind technology is what Swedish politicians heavily argue is the green solution for the energy shortage of the world.
