– – – and here is something about me as professional.

I ’m an engineer and I have worked at AB Volvo since fall 1958. First in Product Engineering with trucks and buses and since 1967 with PDM with short beak for practical Product Documentation in a Truck Development Project with three other truck manufacturers in France and Belgium 1973 thru 1978. From October 1978 I have worked at Volvo BM/Volvo Construction Equipment as responsible for IT-development within Engineering. I was also Project Manager for the PDM project PROST and the ESW project.

The last three years I was leading the introduction of Embedded Software in the Volvo Construction Machines. I worked a total of 42 years at several Volvo companies within the Volvo Group in Sweden, USA, Belgium, Germany, France, Canada, Brazil and Korea.

I was operating as a one-man consultancy business located in Eskilstuna, Sweden, after retiring from Volvo Information Technology in December 1999 at the age of 65. I ended my business in 2008, still working for Volvo companies around the world. After that I still hoped that my thoughts presented here might be of use to someone.

My basic business ideas were to:

  • Provide deep and wide expertise in Systems Architecture in the PDM/LCM and ESW area with an in-depth knowledge of the processes in the end user community, based on more than 30 years of experience in this area at Volvo.
  • Provide advisory services to PDM and PLM Projects evaluating PDM/PLM alternatives.
  • Provide assistance with Project Management in PDM/PLM Projects where PDM/PLM applications are affected.
  • Provide such consultancy, anywhere, on a impartial basis with no strings to any Application Provider.

I have an exceptionally extensive experience from:

  • Product Development Trucks – 10 years,
  • Development of in-house PDM/LCM Applications and
  • the development of Requirement Specifications for new PDM Applications to replace the existing (legacy) PDM Applications – 33 years at Volvo Trucks and Volvo Construction Equipment.
  • Project manager of several PDM-projects at Volvo Construction Equipment.
  • and several of years as a consultant in the development of interfaces between ESW and legacy PDM applications

I have worked with PDM (or if you prefer PLM) since fall 1967, i. e. long before they had invented any of the acronyms used today.
I have collected and described some of the more important principles related to PDM (or PLM) on this website but they ar no longer publicly available.

I do hope that this will be just a little interesting to some.
